Seekar, Obertauern, Radstädter Tauern, Salzburg, Österreich

Ancient mining area, located about 4 km ENE of Obertauern. Pb-Cu mineralizations (quartz-ankerite-siderite veins with chalcopyrite and Ag-bearing tetrahedrite) in quarzites and phyllites of the Radstadt series and gneisses of the Schladming series.

Mining activity first mentioned in 1515, thereafter intermittently working. Finally abandoned in 1924.

An excellent account of the geology, tectonics and the mineralisation is given by Haditsch (1964).
