The study area is approximately 12 km ESE from the Dhone town and the dolerite intrudes within the Vempalle dolostone. The exposed dolerite sill thickness varies between 8––15 m and exhibits serpentinization at its contact zone with the dolostones. The dolerite is fine to medium grains and shows sheeted structure with numerous near vertical joints. The overlying Vempalle Formation consists of 5––6 m thick massive dolostone with laminar stromatolitic association. The weak planes within the dolerite are enriched with sulfide minerals like, pyrite and chalcopyrite. The contact zones with dolostones exhibit significant serpentinization and chloritization, indicative of hydrothermal alteration processes. Dolerite-hosted gold mineralization
