Copper and cobalt sulfide mineralization at the Mashitu South deposit is distributed throughout the Mines Subgroup stratigraphy. However, high-grade mineralization is mostly restricted to the silty stratified dolomites (D.Strat.), siliceous finely laminated dolomites (R.S.F.), and dolomitic shales of the lowermost S.D.B. unit, as well as black carbonaceous dolomitic shales from the S.D.2d. sub-unit (S.D.S. unit). Important, high-grade oxide mineralization exists within the Red R.A.T. siltstones and mudstones in the central part of the deposit. Five major evolution stages recognized at Mashitu South deposit contributed to the primary Cu-Co mineralization as well as enrichment of the deposit.
