The Cishan and Jiguanshan plutons are the two primary metallogenic-related intrusive bodies within the Cishan deposit. The Cishan pluton, predominantly pyroxene diorite (also termed the Baimangshan pluton in northern sectors), intruded Permian to Triassic strata. Skarn alteration is evident within the contact zone between the pluton and the wall rocks of the Nanlinghu and Fenshuiling formations. The quartz monzonite of the Jiguanshan pluton occurs south of the Cishan pyroxene diorite, with no clear surface boundary between the two plutons. The surrounding strata predominantly comprise limestone and marble from the Triassic Nanlinghu Formation. Contact metamorphism typically exhibits a zonal sequence, progressing from the skarn-altered pyroxene diorite inward through inner skarn, massive skarn, stratabound skarn, marble, and hornfels. Skarnization is the primary alteration process controlling mineralization in the Cishan deposit, with five defined stages: early dry (silicate) skarn (Stage I), late wet (silicate) skarn (Stage II), oxide (Stage III), quartz-sulfide (Stage IV), and carbonate (Stage V).
The gold orebodies of the Cishan deposit are spatially associated with the contact zone between the pyroxene diorite and wall rocks, extending laterally along both eastern and western margins of the pluton and vertically into its interior. The No. Ⅰ orebody has an average gold grade of 4.40 g/t, while the No. Ⅱ orebody, subdivided into Ⅱ1 and Ⅱ2, has average gold grades of 8.83 g/t and 6.21 g/t, respectively.
