Köppen climate type:
Calamine roaster for the zinc mine Maxstollen.
The Nußloch calamine/lime kiln stands on the edge of what is now the Heidelberg Materials quarry between Nußloch and Wiesloch. It was most likely built around 1855 as a calamine furnace (calamine is a collective term for sulfur-free zinc ores) in the mining area of the former Hesselzeche mine. When operations at the Hesselzeche mine were discontinued in 1893, the furnace was also shut down.
