The deposit is located along the northern margin of the AOB. Local stratigraphy is dominated by the Bashikuergan Group unit ChBa and ChBb, which are overlain by the Taxidaban Group along a ductile detachment zone. The ChBa unit comprises primarily dolomite- and diopside-bearing marble, quartzite, and biotite quartz schist, and is characterized by chloritization and carbonation. This unit serves as the main rare-metal ore-bearing horizon.
More than 50 felsic pegmatite veins have been discovered in the field, of which approximately 20 are mineralized with spodumene and CGM. The veins generally strike NE and are concordant with foliation, although some cut foliation at low angles. Dips are predominantly to the SE at 30–80°, with local overturning to the NW. Individual bodies form bands and elongate lenses 20–1400 m long and 3–10 m thick, with down-dip extents of approximately 60–200 m. Along strike and dip, veins display systematic swelling and pinching, as well as repeated termination and reappearance; thickened segments correspond to zones of stronger Li mineralization. Li-rich pegmatites are concentrated in the hanging wall of thrust faults, whereas Quaternary unconsolidated deposits largely cover the footwall.
The deposit exhibits NW–SE-trending strata composed primarily of clastic rocks, carbonates, and monzogranite. Dominated by the Changcheng System’s Bashikuergan Group a subunit (ChBa), the sequence includes biotite-quartz schist and dolomitic marble. These rocks underwent medium- to high-grade metamorphism and subsequent deformation, with primary sedimentary features partially obscured but largely preserved. Lithium mineralization occurs as spodumene-bearing pegmatite veins trending NE and tapering southwestward. Veins measure 200–1600 m in length and 0.5–8 m in width, locally swelling into bulbous segments. They typically occur as single or branching composite bodies composed of tourmaline-bearing spodumene granitic pegmatite. Maximum exploration depths reach ∼ 360 m, with spodumene pegmatite veins extending to ∼ 314 m and most mineralized pegmatites persisting beyond 150 m at depth. Vein ρLi6 occurs as a tabular body in the central-eastern study area, emplaced within gray-black biotite-quartz schist. It extends ∼ 170 m along strike with a width of 0.5–1 m, dipping 350° at 65–75°. Vein ρLi8, a thicker slab-like body located 60 m south of ρLi6, is hosted in black biotite-quartz schist. It measures ∼ 400 m in length and 1–5 m in width, dipping 354° at 70–80°. Both veins exhibit white to gray-white coloration, coarse-grained textures, and massive structures. The deposit is dominated by spodumene and lepidolite, with minor beryl and columbite-tantalite. These minerals occur in spodumene granitic pegmatites, with associated Be, Rb, Cs, Nb, and Ta concentrations meeting economic thresholds. whole rock assay data of ore shows the following: Li2O: 0.63–2.86% (avg. 1.63%), BeO: 0.02–0.09%, Rb2O: 0.05–0.27%, Cs2O: 0.02–1.46%, Nb2O5: 0.01–0.07%, Ta2O5: 0.01–0.06%.
