Ultrahigh-temperature (UHT) metamorphism.
Metamorphic rocks of the PMC are also divided into two types. The first type is dominated by biotite-bearing schist and gneiss, with minor amphibolite, greenschist, marble and calc-silicate rocks. They show a wide range of metamorphic grades from greenschist to amphibolite facies. The second type mainly consists of high-grade metamorphic rocks including amphibolite, granulite, gneiss and eclogite-facies rocks. These rocks and their outcrops are only found along the NNW-trending Palu-Koro fault zone (PKFZ), especially on the bank of the Palu River where most of them are present as boulders or xenoliths in the Cenozoic granitic intrusions.
