Porphyry-skarn Cu-Mo

The Kalasayi tungsten deposit is located about 2 km northeast of the Kalatawu pluton. Orebodies are strictly controlled by NW-trending faults and interlayer fracture zones, occurring as veins and lenses. The main orebodies strike 310–320°, dip NE at 50–80°, and are 300–1500 m long and 0.5–8.5 m thick (average 2.3 m), with WO3 grades ranging from 0.12% to 3.68% (average 1.05%). Orebody thickness and grade increase significantly near the pluton and decrease away from it, showing typical magmatic-hydrothermal control. The primary ore type is quartz-vein type scheelite-ore (Group II (distal) scheelite), with minor greisen-type and altered rock-type ore (Group I (proximal) scheelite). Ore textures are mainly euhedral-subhedral granular and replacement textures. Structures are mainly massive, disseminated, and veinlet. The mineralization process is divided into three periods. The Magmatic Period (~314–310 Ma) involved emplacement and fractional crystallization of the Kalatawu pluton, providing the material and fluid basis for mineralization. The Hydrothermal Mineralization Period (~302–290 Ma) is further subdivided into a high-temperature potassic-greisen stage, a main ore-stage quartz-vein-scheelite stage, and a medium-low temperature alteration stage. The main ore stage represents the peak of tungsten precipitation. The supergene oxidation period formed limonite and caused minor damage to orebodies.
