Weeping Water is a city near the Platte River. The area is a center for limestone production in Nebraska. As of 2020, there are three large active operations in the area producing limestone aggregate and agricultural lime, with above-ground and underground mining in Pennsylvanian limestones. Each June, Weeping Water celebrates its main industry, limestone, with a parade, games, a children's fishing contest, canoe races and "Rock Olympics" during "Limestone Days."
