The Nanmushu lead–zinc deposit, situated within the central segment of the southern mineralization sub-belt in the Mayuan–Baiyu mineralization belt. Zinc mineralization predominates, with subordinate occurrences of lead and lead–zinc ore bodies. The Zn1 orebody, representing the largest mineralized entity in the deposit, extending approximately 1580 m along strike, attains a maximum thickness of 21.36 m (average 9.97 m).
The exposed strata in the mining area are relatively simple, mainly comprising the Middle Proterozoic Huodiya Group Maowozi Formation (Pt2Hm), Cambrian Dengying Formation (Z2dn), and Ediacaran Guojiaba Formation (Є1g). Among them, the Z2dn is the main ore-bearing stratum. Currently, a total of 23 ore bodies have been delineated, including 15 Zn ore bodies, 7 Pb-Zn ore bodies, and 1 Pb ore body, Zn1, Zn4 and Pb-Zn2 being the main ore bodies. The estimated Pb and Zn quantity of resources within the Nanmushu deposit are 34,577 t and 358,393 t, respectively. The reserves of Pb and Zn ores are 2,072.7 kt and 18,425.4 kt, respectively, with an associated Ge quantity reaching 353.41 t. The Zn1 ore body has the largest reserve, mainly controlled by the F1 and F2 faults, occurring along the brecciated dolomite of the Dengying Formation, with a stratiform or stratiform-like shape. The ore body exhibits a stable occurrence consistent with the strata, and locally, ore body swelling into ore pouches can be observed, with a sharp increase in thickness and grade. The ore structure is mainly breccia, followed by disseminated, (net) vein-like structure, and a small amount of massive, banded and miarolitic structures. The ore texture mainly includes idiomorphic crystal, xenomorphic crystal, poikilitic, erosion and zoned textures. Based on the contact relationships between minerals and mineral paragenesis, the mineralization process of the Nanmushu Ge-rich Pb-Zn deposit is divided into two periods (hydrothermal period, supergene oxidation period) and four stages (pyrite stage, sphalerite-galena-dolomite stage, dolomite-bitumen stage, oxide stage), with the sphalerite-galena-dolomite stage being the main ore-forming stage of the deposit.
