Other/historical names associated with this locality:
Altenberg washplant Nußloch.
The Altenberger ore‑washing facility of the Hesselzeche concession was located along the Dörrbach in Nußloch at the site now known as Alter Berg. Active from the late 19th century into the early 20th century, it washed and sorted zinc ores before further processing, using flowing water from the stream for separation — a common practice in historical zinc mining operations. This facility formed part of the industrial infrastructure linked to the Hesselzeche mining concession operated by Altenberger (a subsidiary of Vieille Montagne). The mining and processing history of the Wiesloch–Nußloch region, including ore dressing and related installations such as this, has been documented in the regional work of Prof. Ludwig H. Hildebrandt on the historic mining landscape.
