Base of Echo Cliffs Bentonite deposit


A bentonite occurrence located in the NW¼SE¼ sec. 26, T39N, R7E, G&SRM, 8.0 km (5.0 miles) SSE of MArble Canyon (town), at the base of Echo Cliffs. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 5,000 meters. Additional locations include : secs. 1, 12, 13, 23, 24, 31 & 32, T39N, R7E, and in the E half T38N, R7E.

Mineralization is bentonite hosted in the Chinle Formation. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon group.
