ZK5903 borehole
Stratigraphic profiling of Well ZK5903 distinguishes five lithological units within the Gufeng Formation: (a) Basal unit (5.2 m thick): Massive dark-gray limestone; (b) Lower unit (5 m thick): Alternating gray limestone and siliceous rocks; (c) Middle unit (6.5 m thick): Red mudstone with intercalated micritic limestone, capped by a 1-m-thick Mn-enriched horizon marking the onset of Mn-carbonate precipitation; (d) Upper unit (2.2 m thick): Dark-gray Mn-bearing limestone interbedded with economic-grade Mn-ore layers, which represent the primary mineralization horizon; (e) Top unit (3.0 m thick): Dark-gray, organic-rich micritic limestones. The Mn ores are entirely confined to the limestone sequence of the upper unit, showing nearly identical color, bedding, and texture to the host rocks, despite their slightly higher specific gravity.
