The Shanhu deposit contains 118,630 t of WO3 and 31,000 t of Sn, with average grades of 1.5 wt.% and 0.36 wt.%, respectively. Quartz veins are primarily hosted in Devonian sedimentary rocks (mainly shale and sandstone), including the Lianhuashan, Yujiang, Donggangling, Guilin, and Rongxian Formations. Mineralization is mainly controlled by NEE-trending faults, with quartz veins striking NE and dipping SE at angles of 60-85°. Orebodies display progressive widening from surface to depth, consistent with the upper portion of the “five floors” exploration model. Four principal vein types have been identified: (1) muscovite-fluorite-cassiterite veins (I-veins; 40-50 cm wide), (2) wolframite-sulfide-quartz veins (II-veins; 40-80 cm wide), (3) calcite-scheelite-sulfide veins (III-veins; 30-40 cm wide), and (4) composite veins (C-veins; 80-100 cm wide). Additionally, narrow muscovite-quartz-wolframite-(fluorite) veins (4-5 cm wide) occur throughout the deposit. Previous studies document cross-cutting relationships between I-veins and II-veins, with II-veins commonly intruding I-veins. Based on vein variations, mineralization is simplified into three stages. Transitional vein types (e.g. cassiterite-bearing wolframite vein or quartz-bearing calcite vein) do not reliably define stage boundaries. The Shanhu deposit progressed through three distinct stages: Stage I (muscovite-cassiterite), Stage II (quartz-wolframite), and Stage III (calcite-scheelite).
