Köppen climate type:
The Jitai Basin is located in central Jiangxi Province, between geographical coordinates 22°15′ - 27°30′N and 114°25′ - 115°25′E, covering a total area of approximately 4550 km2. The basin is characterized topographically by low mountains and hills and represents the second largest Meso-Cenozoic basin in Jiangxi Province. The basin is a typical continental half-graben fault-depression lake basin formed during the Cretaceous, exhibiting a rhombic planar shape with a predominant NE-trending long axis, approximately 110 km long and 3 km wide. From north to south, the basin interior can be divided into three basic secondary structural zones: the Gaobei–Meigang low uplift, the Datang–Xinxu fault-depression zone, and the southern slope zone, which constitute the main structural framework of the basin. The primary source of lithium in the lithium-rich brines of the Jitai Basin was deep-seated geothermal-magmatic fluids, which provided Li+ through high-temperature leaching. Specifically, as deep geothermal fluids ascended along basin-controlling faults, they underwent intense water-rock interaction at high temperatures with Yanshanian granites (containing Li-rich minerals such as lepidolite and K-feldspar) on the basin margins and dispersed Li-rich minerals within the Cretaceous Zhoutian Formation.
