The Jiangwan deposit is hosted by the Dadongshan pluton. This pluton was emplaced during the Yanshanian period and is mainly composed of medium- to coarse-grained biotite granite and fine-grained biotite granite. The JUD is a small uranium deposit, with ore grades generally ranging from 0.10 wt% to 0.30 wt% U. Mafic dikes (mainly diabase and lamprophyre) are well developed and occur predominantly as NEand NW-trending dikes, with a few nearly N–S dikes. The Jiangwan fault is a nearly E-W-striking transpressional strike-slip fault and the principal ore-controlling structure of the deposit. It strikes about N70°E, dips steeply northwestward, has an exposed length of more than 7 km, and ranges from 2 to 26 m in width. The main orebodies occur in releasing bends of the Jiangwan Fault and in associated secondary fractures. Secondary faults developed in the hanging wall and fractured zones in the footwall of the Jiangwan fault, together with subparallel silicified alteration zones, constitute the principal ore-hosting structures of the deposit.

Geochronology
Mineralization age: Paleocene : 60.2 ± 0.5 MaImportant note: This table is based only on rock and mineral ages recorded on mindat.org for this locality and is not necessarily a complete representation of the geochronology, but does give an indication of possible mineralization events relevant to this locality. As more age information is added this table may expand in the future. A break in the table simply indicates a lack of data entered here, not necessarily a break in the geologic sequence. Grey background entries are from different, related, localities.
