Gold mineralization occurs within the listvenite, approximately 60 m thick, at the Mermerlik site. Unlike Karakaya and Damdamca, there is no granite occurrence in this site. The listvenite has the same mineralogical properties as other sites and hence is rich in silica and iron hydroxide. The listvenitized serpentine-grade contact trends E-W, almost parallel to the serpentinite–listvenite–granite contact in the main zone (Karakaya). The listvenite tectonically overlies metamorphic basement units, including schist and marbles. The drill core samples are brecciated near the contact of listvenite and metamorphics (Hole ID KM28, 60–70 m depth).
