Petrogenesis of the Xinpengling A-type granite in the Yangchun Basin, South China: Insights into magma sources, evolutionary processes, and implications for W-Sn mineralization potential
Köppen climate type:
The Xinpengling intrusion, situated in the western part of the Yangchun Basin, exhibits an outcrop area of approximately 4.4 km2. The intrusion consists of medium- /fine-grained biotite granite, characterized by a massive structure. The granite is primarily composed of K-feldspar (20–25%), plagioclase (35–40%), quartz (25–30%), and biotite (5–10%). The zircon U-Pb age of 79.9 ± 1.1 Ma confirms its emplacement during the Late Cretaceous, aligning with regional A-type granitic magmatism associated with Sn-W mineralization. The petrogeochemical signatures, including high alkali contents, elevated 10,000 × Ga/Al ratios (> 2.6), HFSE enrichment, and high zircon saturation temperatures (∼ 804 °C), unequivocally classify the granite as A-type, mainly derived from high-temperature crustal partial melting in an extensional tectonic setting in Late Cretaceous.
