Alteration: Argillic Or Propylitic; Quartz-Sericite

Deposit: Mass of rock in this area appears to have been fractured, then silicified and impregnated with pyrite, became impermeable to solutions, and the copper-bearing solutions seeped past. [previous updater and date: bawiec, walter j., 90 07.] ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept

Deposit type: Porphyry Cu

Development: Prospect. ; econ.com: area drilled by freeport exploration in 1964; no economic mineralization encountered.

Geology: Barranquitas stock occurs at the intersection of regional northwest trending faults. A blanket of lateritic soil, which is reportedly gold-bearing, overlies the southeastern part of the barranquitas stock and much of the pyrite-quartz-sericite rock.

Ore(s): Fault Controlled (Orocovis Thrust Fault)
