Alteration: Silcia, Sericite, Alunite
Deposit: Major alteration zone, poorly prospected, little indications of near surface economic mineralization for either precious metals or copper. [previous updater and date: mckelvey, g. E., 90 07.] ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept alteration zone crops out under the valley and city of cidra. Exposures are poor and covered by homes and farms.
Deposit type: Epithermal quartz-alunite Au
Development: Prospect.
Geology: In the cidra area, essentially unaltered limestone overlies a small body of dioritic porphyry and hydrothermally altered volcanic rock. Field evidence indicates that this is not an unconformable contact.
Ore(s): Major Fault Zones??? Traces Of Chalcopyrite Are Localized In The Intrusive Rock In Quartz Veins Adjacent And Essentially Parallel To The Basal Limestone Contact.
