The Qiantou Formation serves as the primary host sequence for ore mineralization and predominantly consists of biotite-plagioclase gneiss and biotite granulite, with localized migmatization. Five orebodies have been delineated in the Tongshanyuan mining district, extending from the surface to a maximum depth of approximately 470 m. These orebodies exhibit orientations broadly consistent with the regional fault framework, and most are blind with only limited surface exposure. Orebody I, structurally controlled by fault F1, strikes northwestward and extends downward for over 380 m. The Tongshanyuan deposit has reserves of 210,000 t Pb+Zn at an average grade of 2.5 wt.% and 38,000 t Cu at an average grade of 0.5 wt.%, with associated elements including Ag, Ga, and Cd. As the largest orebody identified to date, orebody I yields average grades of 0.23 wt.% Pb and 2.31 wt.% Zn. Orebodies II-V are hosted within faults F2-F5 and trend northeastward, among which orebodies II and III intersect orebody I. All five orebodies predominantly occur as steeply dipping veins and lenticular bodies with dip angles of 70°-87°, with exploration drilling reaching depths of over 660 m. Two principal ore types are identified based on ore textures and mineral assemblage: altered-rock-type Pb-Zn-Cu ore and vein-type Pb-Zn-Cu ore. The metallogenic evolution of the deposit can be divided into three successive stages: the magnetite-K-feldspar-garnet, the quartz-sulfide and the quartz-carbonate stages.
