The Severny Samombet deposit represents a skarn-hosted Cu–polymetallic system within the Uspensky ore district of Central Kazakhstan. At Severny Samombet, mineralization occurs along the northern part of the Kuttu–Adam–Irek intrusive massif, where granitoids are in contact with carbonate-bearing sedimentary rocks. A lens-shaped remnant of marble and marbleized limestone, approximately 300 × 1400 m in size, is preserved within the granitoid-dominated part of the deposit. Garnet, garnet–pyroxene, garnet–wollastonite, and wollastonite skarns and skarnoids are developed principally along the contacts between the carbonate rocks and granitoids. These metasomatic zones host the principal Cu–Bi–Pb–Zn mineralization. Exploration identified six skarn–ore zones, occurring either as lens-shaped bodies enclosed within granitoids or along the contacts between Lower Tournaisian limestones and granitic rocks. Individual zones range from approximately 10 to 140 m in thickness and from 600 to 1700 m in length and have been traced to depths of 25–125 m or more. They consist predominantly of garnet and garnet–pyroxene skarns and skarnoids, with subordinate wollastonite-bearing varieties. The mineralization is polymetallic in character. Historical exploration distinguished Cu- and Bi-bearing and Pb–Zn ores, although their spatial association suggests a more complex Bi–Cu–polymetallic mineralizing system. Ag, Sn, Ge, W, Be, and Cd were also reported as associated components of the skarn–ore zones. Primary sulfide mineralization is affected by supergene oxidation near the surface; the oxidation zone averages approximately 20–25 m in depth but locally extends substantially deeper.
It contains 1.59 wt.% Cu and 0.45 wt.% Zn, whereas Mo is comparatively low (0.00096 wt.%). The ore is notably enriched in several critical and associated elements, including Bi (200 ppm), Co (72 ppm), In (36 ppm), Cd (32 ppm), and Ge (15 ppm). Selenium occurs at 9 ppm, whereas Te and Re are below their respective analytical detection limits (<20 and <4.5 ppm). Silver is also elevated, reaching 10.8 g/t, while Au is <0.05 g/t.
