Three discrete BIF-hosted gold orebodies, namely Bothmasrust, Abelskop, and Goudplaats, have been recognized at the Blue Dot gold deposit. The Amalia BIF is classified as an oxide (carbonate) facies BIF. At Amalia, gold is preferentially associated with pyrite–hematite–carbonate–chlorite alteration in the mineralized BIF.
