Gabal Sirsir area is is occupied by an ophiolite assemblage and island-arc association, and by late- to post-tectonic granitic intrusions. The Gabal Sirsir ophiolite comprises deformed mega-shear masses of metaultramafics, metagabbros and pillow metabasalts incorporated in a tectonic mélange. The island-arc assemblage is represented by deformed metasedimentary, metavolcanics and a metagabbro to metadiorite association. The rocks exposed in Gabal Sirsir area experienced a regional compressional tectonism with shortening along the WSW-SW to ENE trends, overprinted by NW-direction folds and WSW-verging thrust faults, but many earlier phases of tectonic deformation can be observed as well.
