The Kambale Graphite Deposit is located within the Wa–Lawra Belt of northwestern Ghana and is hosted mainly by graphite schists and quartz–mica schists. Previous studies estimated peak metamorphic conditions in the area at approximately 600–750 °C and 5.0–8.0 kbar, corresponding broadly to amphibolite-facies conditions. Despite increasing exploration interest and reported resource potential, the metamorphic evolution of the host rocks and the source of carbon at Kambale remain insufficiently constrained. In particular, it is unclear whether the graphite formed entirely through metamorphism of organic-rich sediments or whether additional carbon was introduced or modified by deep-seated CO2-rich fluids.
