Vein and stratabound, black-shale hosted cassiterite-sulphide deposit in the eastern part of the Dachang orefield.

A total of 21 tin-zinc ore bodies have been identified in the mining area, including 8 steeply dipping vein-type ore bodies and 13 gently dipping stratiform-like ore bodies. The cumulative proven tin metal reserves exceed 100,000 tons (average Sn 0.89 %), while zinc reserves amount to 40,000 tons (average Zn 5.53 %). The ore bodies mainly occur in three morphological types: steep vein-type, stratiform-like, and quartz stockwork-type.

The Dafulou deposit contains reserves of about 44,000 t of Sn, with an average grade of 0.88 %, 16,392 t of Zn, with an average grade of 3.1 %, and other metal resources. Modern industrial mining of 0# orebody started in 1966, while mining of 21# and 22# orebodies started in 1988. The Dafulou deposit contains 21#, 22#, and 0# orebodies, all of which are characterized by stable occurrence and large scale. NW-SE-striking faults are well developed in the eastern Dachang district and serve as the main ore-bearing structures for the steeply-dipping 0# orebody, whereas 21# and 22# orebodies are hosted within stratified fracture zones developed along lithological boundaries between marlstone and mudstone of the Tangding Formation. In detail, the 21# and 22# orebodies are parallel, dip ∼ 50°at 7° to 10°, and have been traced along strike for distances of 600 and 1100 m, respectively. The 0# orebody is steeply-dipping (72°–84°) and has strike lengths of up to 1250 m, are up to 2 m wide, and extend to depths of 500 m. The Dafulou deposit can be classified into the cassiterite-sulfides stage (stage I), the cassiterite-quartz stage (stage II), and the carbonate stage (stage III) based on mineral assemblages and crosscutting relationships.
