Immediately behind the Rio Marina houses at the north, cut by the provincial road to Cavo, it is the oldest stope, mining exploitation surely beginning in Etruscan times.

In modern times in the east part, between the road and the sea, ore refinement systems and the wharf for ore shipping have been placed. Historically this stope has supplied good hematite specimens and the best specimens of pyrite. Actually exhausted, with scanty residual orebodies at the end of the exploitation front. In 2002 part of it has been transformed into a public parking area.
