Active (July, 2014) quarry in Ordovician Prairie du Chien Group dolostone, with minor sandstone, shale and chert. Pit is currently operated by Milestone Materials.
Of mineralogical interest are abundant vugs and geodes with white to brown drusy quartz crystals. small calcite crystal clusters occur in the vugs, as well as caliche coatings. The calcite fluoresces and phosphoresces blue SW, MW and LW UV light. The quartz fluoresces faintly orange-yellow under SW and MW UV light.
