The Rowe Mine (Sec 18 T46N R29W, near Little Rabbit Lake) was a large open pit mine begun in 1912, making it one of the earliest strip mines on the North Cuyuna Range. It worked a complexly folded mass of the Proterozoic Trommald Formation. Production ceased in 1920. The ore was relatively poor in manganese minerals, but contained high grade hematite-rich banded iron formation.
