The mine worked for over 150 years, closing in 1929. During the 1850s it had a workforce of more than five hundred men, and by the 1880s it was producing 2,500 tons of lead and silver, 9,000 tons of zinc, and 500 tons of copper annually.
There was a brief re-opening in the 1950s but this was not successful.
