In this area ophiolitic masses (basalts, serpentinites, hydrothermalites) outcrop on both sides of the road leading to Tuscany through the Radici Pass. On the right side of the road there is a quarry that is occasionally exploited for road-paving gravel (see coordinates). In this quarry five lithologically and mineralogically different areas are present.
