Quarries opened in Rosso Ammonitico formation, formed by liassic limestones, usually red in color, rich in ammonites. Minerals can be found in calcite veins associated with brittle-ductile shear zones. Pyrite crystals are present also in the limestone but they are always substituted by "limonite"; rarely it can be found limonitized ammonites.
