Lulzacite was found in quartz veinlets, a few centimetres thick, that occur at the contact between Ordovician quartzite and limestone in a quarry 8 km west of Châteaubriant.
The quartz veinlets are cutting an Ordovician ooid-ironstone that has been hydrothermally sulphidized during Hercynian orogenesis.
