The site is found at a road cutting on the R511 between Sandton and Hartbeespoort Dam in the Schurveberg mountains, part of the Rhenosterspruit Nature Conservancy.
To quote (Norman and Whitfield) "From the Johannesburg area the best route is on the R511 from Fourways, joining the N4 near Pelindaba. This takes you across the Johanneburg Granite Dome and through almost the entire Transvall supergroup, including very good exposures of the Malmani dolomite in the Hennops River Valley, with its characteristic olifantsklip weathering"
