A copper and silver mine field, which also procudes minor gold, bismuth and uranium ores. It works several stratabound sedimentary copper deposits that are hosted in continental red beds and marine sedimentary rocks.
The deposit is considered to be a sandstone type hosted in the Cretaceous sandstone or along the disconformities between the Cretaceous sandstone and the Upper Carboniferous limestone or the Lower Permian coal-bearing shale. The Bofang Mine is a small-scale mine and has been under production since 1960 with a total reserve of about 200 000 tons of metal copper. It is famous for the massive chalcocite ores, with an average copper grade of about 35%, which are directly transported to the copper smelter without ore dressing.
