Skipsvrak utenfor Hidra, Hidra, Flekkefjord, Agder, Norge
Unnamed shipwreck off Hidra island. Stacks of pewter plates were found in the cargo. These had reacted to the seawater, and a basic tin chloride had been formed, filling the space between the plates. The tin chloride was recognized as a not-yet-described naturally occurring substance but was not described at the time (Griffin et al., 1977). The same mineral was later found in a shipwreck at Sharm Abhur and described as a new mineral, abhurite (Matzko et al., 1985).
