The Ridge Mining Company organized in 1850 and worked until 1855, when it was leased by tributers until 1863. In 1863 the company was reorganized and leased the mine on tribute until 1896, when the land title was lost due to unpaid taxes. The mine was absorbed by the Mass Consolidated Mining Company in 1899. The mine produced approximately 5.5 million pounds of refined copper. The Ridge Mine was exceptionally rich in silver, and some nice silver specimens can still be found today, as well as copper and copper crystals.
