Štůly

Note: There are two sites called Orlik - one is this site named "Štůly" originally and it's close to the Orlik castle ruin.

Beware that there is also Orlik Mt. (sometimes called Čejovský kopec) which is located a few kilometres to the NE of Štůly in Čejov (https://www.mindat.org/loc-208103.html).

There are dozens of small mining holes after medieval gold prospection and small-scale mining. At the site of Štůly are the biggest works in this area, which consist of an about 150m long line of pits which remained after extracting a gold-bearing layer. Beware that visiting mining pits is dangerous, especially chiselling from unstable walls or small roof relicts. Finding any stuff is pretty difficult.

Moldanicum / NW Moravia.
Stratiform metamorphogenic type of deposit (formed by the action of relicts of the solutions which pervaded rocks during metamorphic processes).
The mineralization process is related to Variscan regional and contact metamorphism, with mobilization and redistribution of gold derived from metamorphosed volcano-sedimentary rocks.
Quartz lenses and stratiform veins with native gold and scheelite in metamorphosed rocks (sillimanite-biotite gneisses, skarns and quartzites of the Moldanubian, near the contact with the Variscan pluton).
