Sukari Mine; Sukkari Gold mine

Located 15 km west of the Red Sea coast (23 km west of the coastal town of Marsa Alam) in the southern central Eastern Desert of Egypt, on Sukari Hill.
Gold was worked by the Pharaohs and the Romans.
Estimated resources: 18.8 Mt at 2.41 g/t Au.

Sukari consists of four primary zones that contain varying degrees of ore: Amun, Ra, Gazelle, and Pharaoh. The open pit is based on the Main and Hapi ore zones which have been drilled extensively in the Amun and Ra/ Gazelle areas revealing various high-grade zones.

The epi-mesothermal mineralization is associated with stacked quartz veins and stockworks (repeated veining and leaching followed by leaching) in an altered granodiorite/rhyodacite porphyry.

The mine comprises both an open pit and underground operations.

The mine is half owned by Centamin Plc which operates the mine through its wholly owned subsidiary Pharoah Gold Mines NL (the other half is owned by the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority. The mine is within an overall mining concession comprising some 160km2.
Important prosepcts within the mine area include: Sukari North; V_Shear East; Wadi El Alam; Wadi Um Tunduba, Kurdeman East; Kurdeman North; Horus South; and Sami South.
