A former Cu-Ag-Au-Pb-Zn mine located in secs. 2, 3, 10 & 11, T12S, R23E, MDM, 3.3 km (2.1 miles) NNW of Wildcat Mountain (coordinates of record). Operated during the periods 1901, 1902, 1904-1907, and 1915-1917. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a complex sulfide vein deposit in the Foothill Copper Belt, with quartz stringers cutting amphibolite schistm intruded by granite. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 1 (Southwestern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 1219.2 meters and an overall depth of 243.84 meters. The main shaft is nearly 800 feet deep, and an inclined shaft was about 700 feet deep. There were 6 levels totaling over 2,500 feet in length.
Production data are found in: Logan, C.A., etal (1951): 500-501.
Total production up until 1917 had been claimed to have been 50,000 tons of 8 % Cu. No recorded Pb or Zn production.
