Pacific claim

A Pb-Ag-Fe-Mn mine located in East-central sec. 11, T4S, R23W (protracted), between the Black Rock Mine and the Red Cloud Mine (adjoins the Black Rock mine on the NW), on BLM-administered land. Owned at times, or in part, by Mr. M.L. Keith, who had it surveyed for patent in 1887; and, Mr. C.E. Batton (circa 1933).

Mineralization is spots of lead carbonate and small, altered nodules of galena with silver in banded quartz and masses of iron oxides, pyrolusite, and calcite along a silicified fault zone in metamorphic Mesozoic schist intruded by Laramide diorite. The principal mineralization occurs within a silicified fault zone that strikes north, but swings southeastward on the Mandan claim, and dips about 85ºE.

Workings include a 100 foot deep shaft (before 1887). This claim was patented in 1887 and produced some silver ore in the 1880's.
