A former Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 2, T30S, R33E, MDM, 5.2 km (3.2 miles) NNE of Loraine, along the E side of Sand Canyon. Owned by Martin J. Errecart, Piute, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. 2 mine shafts are just E of Sand Canyon Road in the canyon. The topo map reflects the name as Juan Dos Mines.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes N82E and dips 60NW at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The vein is 6 inches (15 cm) to 5 feet (1.52 meters) thick. Local rocks include Tertiary intrusive rocks (hypabyssal), unit 7 (Northern Mojave Desert).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 33.53 meters and comprised of 2 shafts at 100 and 110 feet deep with levels at 30 and 60 feet.
