A former Au mine located in sec. 26, T26S, R32E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile/5,300 feet) NNE of Keyesville. Discovered in 1852 by Colonel Keyes. The property is comprised of 13 claims covering 260 acres. Operated by Fred K. Seaman and A. Swift, Los Angeles, California. Owned by the Kern River Mining Co., Los Angeles, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in granite. The ore body strikes N45E and dips 70SE. There are 5 parallel veins. The Keyes vein is 1 to 2 feet thick with a 200 foot long ore shoot. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 137.16 meters. There is an 840 foot crosscut to the Keyes vein with a 1,400 foot drift. 1,200 feet SW of the crosscut, a winze was sunk to a depth of 100 feet with 700 feet of drifts on the 100 level. There are also other winzes, tunnels and stopes.

A recovery of $39.50 (period values) Au per ton was made in the mill from 52 tons of ore mined on the 100 level.
Analytical data results: The Keyes vein assayed at $40 (period values)/ton.
