A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 36, T11N, R12W, SBM, 0.9 km (0.5 mile) NNE of Sanborn, on the NE lobe of Sanborn Hill. The property comprises 640 acres. Owned by O.H. Ladd, Mojave, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in rhyolite. The ore body strikes E and dips 80N at a thickness of 1.22 meters. The deposit consists of small fractures, 6 to 8 inches wide, a 4 foot, brecciated quartz vein and another parallel vein 4 feet thick. Rhyolite forms the small butte (Sanborn Hill). Local rocks include Tertiary intrusive rocks (hypabyssal), unit 7 (Northern Mojave Desert).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a trench that is 100 feet long by 6 feet deep. There are a number of trenches to the E, 10 feet apart, for a quarter mile. A 356 foot shaft was sunk with a 25 foot crosscut to the vein.
