A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 35, T26S, R32E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.4 mile) S of Keyesville. Owned by the Mammoth Mountain Mining Co., Isabella, California (1933- ). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Part of the Mammoth group of claims.
Mineralization is hosted in granite. The ore body strikes NE-SW and dips 60S at a thickness of 0.61 meter. The Mammoth vein is 6 inches (15 cm) to 2 feet (0.61 meter) thick. The ore shoot is 70 feet long and averages 1 foot in thickness. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 125 foot incline with drifts on the 100 foot level.
The average value of ore was reported to be $70 (period values) Au/ton. No specific production records were found.
