Named in honor of Stanislav Vrána (1936-2018), petrologist with the Czech Geological Survey. Among other things, he studied the petrology and mineralogy of borosilicate minerals. He was also editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Czech Geological Society.
Related to boralsilite and boromullite.
