Name:
Named as a Mg dominant mineral of the högbomite group and the 6N12S polysome. The root name is for Arvid Gustaf Högbom (11 January 1857, Vännäs, Västerbotten, Sweden - 19 January 1940, Uppsala, Sweden), Professor of Mineralogy and Geology at Uppsala University.
The first polysome in the högbomite group with a sequence as given below.

* alternating spinel (S) and nolanite (N) modules, in the sequence 3 × (NSSNSS);
* cubic "c" and hexagonal "h" closed-packed oxygen layers, in a 3 × (cccccchcccch) sequence
