About BounahasiteHide

Formula:
Cu+Cu2+2(OH)3Cl2
Colour:
Green
Lustre:
Vitreous
Specific Gravity:
3.90 (Calculated)
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
Named after the Bou Nahas Mine, Morocco, the type locality.
New structure type.

First mixed-valency purely Cu chloride mineral (however, compare, e.g., allochalcoselite). Also compare nantokite - another natural Cu(I) chloride.

Chemically somewhat resembles minerals of the atacamite group.
