Baumanets 2 [BMSTU]
Baumanets 2 is a scientific experimental satellite that utilizes a new satellite bus.
The Baumanets-2 microsatellite is in the shape of a 80 cm cube. Among other experiments, a remote sensing camera onboard will acquire 30 meters resolution images. All equipment is developed and manufactured by Bauman University students.
Payload and mission:
- Earth remote sensing;
- Measurement of satellite signal attenuation at various angles;
- Data transmission through Globalstar network;
- Onboard computer flight testing;
- Flight testing of thermo resistive engine for orbit correction;
- Radiation Assurance experiment developed by Montpellier-2 University students (FRP).
The satellite was launched on 28 November 2017 as a copassenger on a Soyuz-2-1b Fregat rocket, but was lost due to an upper stage problem.
