Baumanets ia a scientific experimental satellite that utilizes a new satellite bus. Joint development of NPO Mashinostroyeniya and Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Russia. Final customer of the satellite is Federal Space Agency of Russia.

Baumanets carried an optical remote-sensing payload.

The launch was not successful, as the Dnepr failed 86 sec after launch.
